Yuba College football team will be returning strong this fall. After being named the BVC, Division and Holiday Bowl champions, Yuba’s football team will be coming back with a handful of veterans and a few your new recruits from as far away as Florida, Washington and Samoa. The players seem confident and prepared for the upcoming season. Spring Ball started, and all the dedicated players are out practicing to get ready to break new records and set higher standards this fall.
The 49’ers will be losing some key players this year, such as the Offensive MVP of the Century Holiday Bowl Trevor Stoehr (QB, #2) and the state leader in receiving touchdowns Marcus T Allen (WR, #8), both of whom received scholarships to Fayetteville in North Carolina. Also, Jarrett Durrant, the current sack leader in a season, and the Century Holiday Bowl Defensive MVP has moved on and will not be returning next fall.
But fans do not need to stress out because some rising stars are planning to win and are not willing to give up any big plays. Returning players that are expected to put some numbers on the board and to lead by example are Robie Brown (WR #18), Dayton Guillory (DB #3), Ryan Williams (QB #6) and last but not least the 220 pounder that runs a 40 in 4.5 seconds, Jake Winship (HB #20).
The 49’ers are hoping to come back home with the same titles as fall 2006, but this time they want a perfect record.
Jake Winship said, “I’m hoping we go undefeated.”
Winship added that Yuba has a great bunch of guys, who, if they put their heads into the game, could do a great amount of damage. He hopes to lead by example and set a few records.
