Having left class, I noticed that I and my girth were a bit peckish. So! I do what I normally do when crossing the parking lot while hungry. I mumble creepily to my belly until I reach a consensus.
It is around 2:30 pm when I pull into one of Yuba City’s not-so-hidden treasures, having just come off of B Street out by the courthouse. I walk in, I am recognized, John is asked after. I love this place.
I order the BFG breakfast burrito special with everything in it, three taquitos with guacamole and cheese and a chorizo con huevos breakfast burrito. Total damage is about eleven dollars. I take the glass they gave me, fill it with dark purple jamaica tea and find a seat. I am offered fresh chips and access to a condiment bar with salsa, pico de gallo, spicy carrots, radishes and more to snack on. Five minutes later, my food arrives.
The tea is sweet, with a slightly tannic aftertaste that keeps it from being heavy or cloying. The BFG burrito is, as always, filling and delicious. The taquitos are likewise as good without being salty. I am at first confused as to why my chorizo burrito is wrapped in paper like a to-go order, and then I finish the rice and beans. My being full has snuck up on me, and I have breakfast tomorrow. Someone more than earned his tip. I love this place.
