Jim Kennedy, former Yuba County Treasurer, is a running candidate for the Yuba College Board of Trustees. Jim Kennedy brings to the table over 30 years of experience working with finances and budgets. He has a long history of involvement with the community. He has served and is currently serving on many different boards. He was also a founder of The Depot Family Crisis Center.
Kennedy feels that the Board of Trustees need financial help and believes he is the right man for the job, stating that he is a good facilitator and can bring people together regardless of personal feelings, or how well everyone does or doesn’t get along. His goals are to hopefully make the organization more financially responsible by doing a better job of prioritizing and making the best use of the limited money available to benefit the students. Kennedy would like to see the students, the faculty, the administration, the board, and the public to come together to make these decisions.
Kennedy says, ” I am a completely independent candidate, beholden to no person or organization. I have no preconceived notions as I enter this campaign. If I win, great! I will attempt to serve, most importantly, the students. That’s what this is all about.” Kennedy went on to say that himself, his wife and his sons were all students at community colleges and he believes in the system because they provide the basic classes for people to move on to a university or career. ” I want to be a part of the solution, I pick my battles and I believe the college is something worth fighting for. “
