Come celebrate alternative fuel and energy solutions at Yuba College. On October 14, 2010 Yuba College will be having Odyssey Day from 9am to 1pm. This is part of National Alternative Vehicle Day recognized on October 15th. It is a free event where companies come together to showcase new green and cleaner technologies and educate the nation on alternative fuels. At the event you can also see what job markets are now available because of these technologies. The event promotes energy independence for our nation.
The Auto Department is looking forward to this day to see what is out there. They received a $500,000 dollar grant from the Workforce Investment Act (WIA) program, which help qualified students. The classes teach students about hybrids and alternative fuels and how to work on them.
Some of the businesses are be attending are Brammo Electric Motorcycles, Yuba-Sutter Transit, Springboard Bio-diesel, Bio-diesel Cars, Dow Lewis, Feather River Air Quality, All Solar Electric, Lincoln Electric, Chico Volkswagen, CODA, Tesla, Solar eCity Electric, and Fisker with a plug in hybrid.
On display will be electric motorcycles and cars, a propane fueled Ford F-250, a fuel cell model kit and many more new technologies.
Michael Morse said, “It is all about helping people find out how to get a vehicle not to pollute.”
Not only will it be interesting but it will be a good opportunity for students to check out career venues that will be available. There will also be lots of information, food, and test drives.
