At last night’s monthly board meeting of the Yuba Community College District Board of Trustees, I read the following statement to the Board.
I am Dan Bagley, a Yuba Community College student.
Good Evening to Chairman/President Tafoya, esteemed trustees, Chancellor Harrington, administrators, faculty, staff, students, and members of the public.
I am speaking as a student today. I am not speaking on behalf of The Prospector, the Independent Student News Source for Yuba College.
As a student, I want to publicly thank Student Trustee, George Cheso, for speaking at the November board meeting regarding the proposed salary increase for the Chancellor.
As our elected representative to this August Body, Trustee Cheso did what he was elected to do. He eloquently presented the feelings and concerns of his constituents on their behalf. This is what each of your constituents elected you to do and expect you to do.
Therefore, the (IMHO), “personal” chastisement of Trustee Cheso, at the hands of Trustee Hastey, was inappropriate and out of place.
Since this chastisement was done in a public forum. I BELIEVE that Trustee Hastey owes Trustee Cheso, AND his constituents, a public apology.
