The Writing & Language Development Center (WLDC) is taking advantage of a program offered by Townsend Press of New Jersey through which students can earn $100 for reading 10 books, $200 for reading 20 books and $300 for reading 30 books. Townsend Press created the Townsend Library and Bluford Series, and this scholarship program, to encourage college students to read more books. The book series consists of a large collection of classics including: Tom Sawyer, Dracula, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, White Fang, War of the Worlds and Little Women. This is the third semester that the WLDC has offered this opportunity for students. Grab a copy of The Prospector’s next print edition in mid-March, for a more in-depth look at this program and last semester’s winner. Update: In order to qualify for the program, students must be enrolled in any reading class, or in one of the following English classes: 110A, 110B, 105, or 51.
