Beginning April 5, 2012, the nomination/petition period for the Associated Students of Yuba College (ASYC), officers will begin. If you or another student attending Yuba College are interested in becoming a part of our school’s student government to help make the decisions that affect students directly, then this may be the opportunity you have been looking for. The nomination/petition period ends April 16, 2012 at 3:00 p.m., when the completed packets must be returned to Campus Life Director, Miriam Root in Building 300, room 301.
ASYC offers the students involvement in a variety of programs and services including the planning of campus events, fund raising for scholarships and serving as the voice of the Yuba College student body. Not only do you get to help our college grow and progress with actual hands on experience but you will carry the experiences with you throughout your college career and beyond.Those interested in politics, communications, and event planning should seriously consider becoming a member of the ASYC.
Eligibility Clearance will begin April 17, 2012, where the college staff sort and verify information that is provided by the Nomination/Petition Packets.This is when the official list of candidates is created and posted to all Yuba College Bulletin Boards.
The campaign period begins on April 23, 2012 and goes through April 27, 2012. This is when the candidates have the opportunity to explain to the student body why they would be the best person for the job.
Voting begins on May 1, 2012 and continues through May 3, 2012. Students will be able to vote for their preferred candidate during the following times: May 1, Noon to 2:00 p.m., May 2, Noon to 2:00 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., and May 3, from Noon to 2:00 p.m. Voting will take place at the center of campus, between the theater and library/cafeteria, weather permitting Look for the signs posted around campus directing voters to the voting area. Election results will be posted by Campus Life on May 4, 2012.
All positions in the ASYC Student Council are available such as, President, Vice-President, Secretary, Business Director, Activities Director, Communications Director, and Senators. If any of these positions sound like something you may be interested in competing for, then just go for it!
