It takes a lot of courage and resolve to perform on stage and in front of a crowd. The Yuba College Variety show had music, and even poetry with a message. To top all of it off, there was even a barbershop quartet and a song medley.
A duo consisting of John Forquera and Cole Martin, did an acoustic rendition of the Rush of Fools song “Can’t Get Away.”
Jim Fleenor followed with his original poetry. His two poems were “Child Abuse” and “Bully.” Both were pretty straightforward, and dealt with the issues that many young people face.
The one and only dance number was performed by Ali Shelton, who danced to 2NE1’s “I Am the Best.”
A Barbershop Quartet, consisting of Brian Baggett, Anthony Harmon, Mario Nieto, and Michael Starkey sang the song “Caroline in Morning.”
A medley of some annoying was performed by a full band consisting of drums, bass, guitar, French horn, cello, fiddle and piano. One of these songs was the song “Blue” by Eiffel 65, which was probably the most annoying. For this number, one of the singers painted their face blue.
If you missed this variety show, there is one every semester.
