Enroll in Mass Communications 8 (Media Writing) in the spring or Mass Communications 19 (News Writing and Reporting) in the fall. You must enroll in one of these courses as a co-requisite to writing for The Prospector. In other words, you must have successfully completed or be currently enrolled in one of these courses to enroll in the Newspaper Production lab. Both are 3-unit courses, offered via television as well as in class. Either will give you the basic skills needed to write successfully for a campus newspaper.
Enroll in the 4-unit repeatable course Mass Communications 20LR. The class is cross-listed with English 20LR, allowing you to decide which course you want to appear on your transcript. They are the same class, in which you may participate in one or more of the many facets of newspaper production, including reporting, editing, photography, advertising, web posting and page layout.
Show up, ready to be part of a hard-working, cohesive team.
