The ten game losing streak is over
After a rough start to the season, the Yuba College baseball team is back on track after winning two games and losing one.
" Its simple, if we play catch we will win, that's what we did in the first two games this week," said head coach Tim Gloyd.
Late last week, Yuba traveled to Shasta for a non-league battle and won 19-12.
Freshman outfielder Nick Hanson hit two home runs and tallied six RBIs as Yuba dropped a ten game losing streak.
Yuba totaled seven teen hits and committed three errors.
On Saturday, Yuba hosted their first league game against Delta College.
Yuba right-hander Wes Porter pitched 6 2/3 innings striking out nine and walking seven batters in a 10-1 route.
Team captains Kelly Buber and Neil Logue had two RBIs a piece and Freshman Curtis Hudson hit a home run off the scoreboard to lead the forty-niner offense.
" WOW, we came to play today, and we dominated the whole game. It was fun," said freshman pitcher David Treadwell.
Treadwell, who relieved porter in the sixth inning, pitched two innings of solid baseball retiring all batters he faced.
On Tuesday, Yuba lost to the number two team in the state and inner league rival Sacramento City.
Yuba totaled seven hits and had two errors as the Panthers beat Yuba 9-2.
Jake Howard went 2-for-4 with a double and Anthony Sevedra went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a walk.
" Steve Briggs pitched outstanding. All they hit were little bleeders that fell right over our infielders heads, it should have been a different game," said David Treadwell.
Yuba is now (5-13,1-2).
" It was a good week for us. It got us back on our feet and got the monkey off our back. We had a team meeting last week and I believe it paid off, we came to play this week," said Neil Logue.
